    •  We are registered per the Pennsylvania Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act – PA  Home Improvement Contractor #037991.
    • Our insurance is with Selective Way of America, through the Meehan Agency in Havertown.
  • How long have you been in business?

    TJ’s Painting was founded 35 years ago, operating part-time while our owner (Ted) was a public  school teacher… TJ’s Painting & Renovations Co. has been in business full-time for 20 years,  serving the Main Line and surrounding communities.

  • What are your primary services?
    • We are a finish contractor focused on – interior painting, custom carpentry, trim carpentry, interior doors, finished basements, and kitchen remodels.
  • How far out is your job schedule booked?
    •  Depending on the trade or service, we are booked out for approximately 2-4 weeks for painting,  trim carpentry, electrical & lighting, and handyman projects. For custom jobs, please contact us  HERE for our current schedule.
  • Are you currently offering virtual quotes?
    • For simple projects, virtual quotes are available. Email Ted HERE for more  information.
  • How long will it be until I receive the quote?
    • Depending on the project, the quote will take 1-2 days or up to 1 week.
  • May I contact your previous customers?
    • Yes. We offer referrals by email or phone. Due to the pandemic, site visits are not presently being  offered.
  • How long will the project take?
    • Each type of project has factors and logistics that affect project timing, depending on the scope of  the project and the trades involved. We also have strict guidelines in-place to maintain social  distance, which results in smaller team assignments. Subsequently, jobs are taking longer than  usual due to restrictions and requirements to minimize social contact during the Covid-19  pandemic.
  • Do you, as the company owner, do the work? Who will be doing the work?
    • TJ’s owner – Ted, supervises all jobs and will be your direct point-of-contact for scheduling, customer service, and quality-control of all the work on your home. You can contact Ted by phone Monday-Friday from 7:30-5:30, as he picks-up all calls from customers.  Ted also oversees and leads the planning with TJ’s professional team of master carpenters, trim carpenters, finish painters, electricians, and our talented handyman team. However, since TJ’s is typically running 8-10 jobs at a time, Ted can no longer honor requests to perform any work directly himself.
  • Who will inspect the quality of the work?
    •  Our supervisors are very good at maintaining and evaluating quality-control. However, TJ’s owner  Ted is onsite to oversee quality and to perform final inspections on a regular basis.
  • What time do the workers start? Do you work weekends?
    • Generally, our painters and trim carpenters start between 7am and 7:30am. If a demo is involved,  we start later. Saturday is an optional workday for our team members. Generally, we are closed  on Sunday’s.
  • How many painters and carpenters does your company have?
    • TJ’s has 11 painters and 6 carpenters. We also have 3 master carpenters who can construct and  install custom built-ins and custom millwork or trim-work. This list includes full-time and part-time  team members.
  • Do you work on exterior painting projects?
    • We primarily offer exterior painting, and the carpentry and handyman projects that are part of  exterior painting jobs. We also offer power washing services. As of 2021, TJ’s no longer offers  any other exterior project services.
  • What types of trim carpentry projects can you do?
    • Our trim carpenters can successfully install all types of trim, from basic stock trim to custom  wainscoting, crown molding, coffered ceilings, and custom built-ins.
  • Do you offer staircase and railing services?
    • We have experience in installing stock handrails to perform highly custom staircases.
  • Which paints do you work with?
    •  We mostly work with Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore. Though, we are open to other  brands as well, such as Fine Paints of Europe.
  • Do you offer any discounts?
    • We offer what Ted calls a Flex Scheduling Special, which is savings based on how far out the  project is scheduled in advance. A minimum of 45 days is required to receive the Flex Scheduling  Special savings. Of course, the start date is the only date “flexed.” Once we start the project we  work straight through to the end.
  • Is the proposal also the contract?
    • Our proposal and contract are separate documents. The proposal is emailed first. If the project  pricing meets the planned budget, then traditionally the contract follows.
  • What forms of payment do you take?
    • We accept checks only.
  • What does your warranty include?
    • We offer a 2-year warranty on all labor.
